The parent resident category re-opened in 2022 and allows the parents, and occasionally the grandparents, of adult New Zealand citizens or resident children to apply for a visa.

If your children are resident in New Zealand but do not meet the remuneration requirements for you to apply under parent resident category, but you are keen to invest at least $1 Million in to New Zealand's economy, you may be able to apply under the parent retirement resident category.
